So… why box?
Find out why Syracuse Head Coach, John Desko, thinks all young players should be playing box lacrosse by clicking here.
There is no better way to enhance lax IQ, fundamentals, athleticism, and stick skills than to play box lacrosse. Box lacrosse:
-
Requires players to make quick decisions on both the defensive and offensive ends of the field.
-
Improves inside and outside shooting accuracy with smaller goals and larger goalies.
-
Encourages greater teamwork on offense with picks, rolls, and cutting to get open in a smaller space.
-
Refines concepts of team defense by playing against more compact, faster-paced offenses.
-
Provides a non-stop game full of transition and fast break opportunities.

Players who make the team participate in three to four sessions per week, each with a unique structure and focus:
-
Team Practice -- 90 minute session, recurring on weeknights, focusing on offensive & defensive systems, transition and other team concepts.
-
Fall Homegrown Academy -- 75 minute session, recurring on weeknights focusing on fundamentals, position-specific skills, and functional strength development.
-
Games -- Doubleheaders played against other regional teams on Saturday’s in outdoor arenas.
Final games are played the weekend before MEA break in Mid October!
